About Ashiana – Empowering women to take control of their future

Ashiana provides a specialist service for women and girls from South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern backgrounds, who have experienced violence against women and girls (VAWG). Providing specialist refuge, advice and counselling, we empower them to make informed choices and decisions about their future. We also aim to raise awareness of VAWG, including harmful practices such as; forced marriage, honour based violence, and female genital mutilation, with statutory and non-statutory agencies, professionals and the wider community.

The role
The position requires someone with strong financial and management reporting experience who can manage the organisation’s financial function. The candidate will oversee the day-to-day financial management of our activities as well as provide strategic input and advice to the Senior Management Team and Trustees.

Ashiana are looking for a candidate who matches the following profile:

A highly motivated and pro-active individual, who has experience of working within the voluntary sector and with excellent knowledge of charity finances. They will be responsible for preparation of payroll, monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts and the annual budget (budget setting, reporting and control, income management, financial reporting to external bodies). They will be responsible for all compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC regulations and requirements.

The candidate will have a ‘can do’ attitude with excellent attention to detail. They will work closely with the Director and Senior Management Team and provide support and guidance on financial matters across the organisation.

Candidate requirements:

 At least 5 years experience working and managing Income and Expenditure account within the voluntary sector
 Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
 Experience of using financial software
 Experience of preparing and processing payroll and pensions
 Experience of reconciliation of income and expenditure and preparation of management accounts and reports
 Excellent standard of written work and the ability to write effective commentary to financial reports
 Detailed knowledge of charity law, governance and statement of recommended practice (SORP)
 Proven experience of managing staff
 Working towards a recognised professional accounting qualification
