[:en]Counselling
We provide confidential one-to-one counselling services for women and girls who are impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse, as well as women and girls who have experienced any form of Harmful Practice including forced marriage, honour based violence and female genital mutilation.
Counselling offered is short term (6-15 Sessions) and provided by accredited qualified counsellors and experienced volunteer counsellor/placements.
Ashiana Network is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Our Approach
We work on a trauma based model of intervention.
The service works towards the empowerment of women and girls.
The service operates using an Intercultural model of counselling, where cultural and religious norms are recognised, respected and responded to.
Counselling is offered in the preferred language of the client, where possible.
Our counselling service provides therapeutic interventions that increase confidence and self-esteem of women and girls accessing counselling and thereby empowering them to make positive life choices such as exiting violent relationships. We aim to reduce the impact of domestic violence in their lives. We provide a safe and supportive environment where our clients can discuss their experiences and feelings on a 1 to1 basis with qualified, specialist therapists. Our ultimate aim is to improve the lives of vulnerable women and girls in some of London’s most deprived boroughs.
This project has three key outcomes:
Increased confidence/self esteem of women and girls affected by harmful practices, domestic violence, sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse
Increased understanding of violence against women and girls
Increased ability to make informed choices[:de]Counselling
