Ashiana has over 20 years’ experience of providing refuge services for South Asian, Turkish and Iranian women.
All the women we house have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence or other forms of violence.
You can get support to help escape a forced marriage.
No one should suffer in silence.
Our Refuges
We provide temporary safe housing across three schemes and work intensively with women to improve safety and enable them to exit violent and abusive relationships or situations.
Kyra offers eight bed-spaces for South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women between the ages of 16-35 who are experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence or at risk of harmful practices.
Saranaya offers five bed-spaces for South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women between the ages of 16-35 who are at risk of forced marriage
Zafina offers eight bed-spaces for South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women between the ages of 16-35 who are at risk of forced marriage.
We are raising funding for a fourth refuge to house a minimum of nine women and girls, potentially 18. We are liasing with specialist housing authorities to make sustainable infrastructure for our residents.
Ashiana provides refuge as part of an overall rehabilitative process that aims to mitigate future cases of violence against women.
Clients are expected to adhere to strict confidentiality rules; most importantly not to allow any visitors to the refuge and not to disclose the location of the refuge.
Bedspaces
We designate 4 bed-spaces for women with no recourse to public funds. As they constitute some of the more destitute and vulnerable women and we support them with their housing, welfare and immigration needs.
up to two year stay
Clients can stay at Ashiana for up to a maximum of two years and are supported in seeking alternative accommodation such as shared housing, private rented accommodation and social housing.
cultural education
During their stay at Ashiana, clients are offered culturally specific support, confidential advice and advocacy regarding their legal, financial, housing and personal situation.
rehabilitation
Whilst Ashiana cannot guarantee access to move-on accommodation, through two-years of committing our full resources, we empower our women through education and independence to move on effectively and safely through society.
